learn to breathe

My curiosity to dig out new surprises doesnt stop and i hope with all my heart that i will have the energy and motivation to dig deeper and deeper into what seems to be an infinite world of surprises.

Such was the Art of living course that i happened to get myself involved with quite recently. To give some background on the organization before i get into the details of it, this was started decades ago by Shri Shri Ravi Shankar, the saint from Papanasam, Tamil Nadu. The foundation aims to reduce stress from people's lives and unite everyone in the planet with a sense of universal brotherhood.

The Part 1 course conducted by the foundation focuses on breathing. it seems very silly but despite breathing all our lives, we have really taken for granted the art of breathing. Who would have ever thought that breath can make wonders? Breath in the right way and see your stress and worries just fly away. The 6 day course (about 3 hours every day) aims to give an introduction to stress reduction by proper breathing.

Here is some explanation on what they have to say about the technique - when one gets agitated the breath is shallow and rapid, when one is stressed, the breath is shallow. The breathing pattern changes with every type of emotion - now reverse the breathing to create the emotional state that you desire - which is a stress removed state. Spurious??

Well, take the course to see that they actually mean what they say. The sudharshan kriya breathing exercise leaves you with a clear head, no stress at the end just like a massage removes all stress from your body. if i am allowed to make an analogy i would compare the kriya with a massage - the latter for the body, the former for your head.

Since i am not supposed to reveal the actual technique, all i can say is do it to belive it.
